Field Notes Family

The family behind the field notes

We're not travel bloggers who passed through once. We have family in Ojochal, and we've been coming back every year — at least once, usually more — since before our kids were born. Jude (6) and Thea (4) have grown up knowing this coast. This site is the notebook we wish someone had handed us years ago.

Family in the village · every year, since before the kids

How this started

PLACEHOLDER — your origin story in your words. The facts to include: family in the Ojochal area; you were coming here for years before Jude (b. 2019) or Thea (b. 2022) existed; at least one trip every year; the kids have grown up knowing this coast. Add your actual first-visit year. What made you start writing it down?

How we work

Every place on this site carries the same specimen card — cost, time, bathrooms, terrain, shade — filled in on site, not from memory or someone else's blog. Kid quotes are verbatim, recorded that day. Grandparent verdicts come from traveling with grandparents, not from guessing. And nothing gets published until we've been there ourselves.

Then we come back. Prices change, roads wash out, kids grow, knees age. Every page shows its last-verified date, and old reviews are never rewritten — new ones stack alongside, year after year.

What we're not

No sponsorships, no comped stays, no affiliate pressure shaping the verdicts. If that ever changes for a specific page, it will say so on that page in plain language. Places we didn't like either don't appear or say honestly why.

Planning a trip?

Everything we know is in the experiences and guides — free, structured, and updated every visit. If you'd rather have it assembled for your exact crew, that's Custom Field Notes.
