What Uvita actually is
Uvita is the bigger town compared to Ojochal, and it's where you come for anything you actually need. Large grocery stores, bakeries, an ATM, gas. Very similar vibes to Ojochal, just larger.
It isn't only errands. We've had the kids in school here, and I take a pilates class at Pilates Uvita when I can. My perfect day here is a morning pilates class and then a distraction-free working session at the bakery, eating and drinking their very good things while I get through what I need to get through.
If you work remotely and need to get out of the house for a day, the bakery or Sibu both do the job.
Uvita is also the way into Marino Ballena National Park, which is where the Whale's Tail sandbar is.
Weather, honestly
Same as Ojochal — you're in the rainforest, so it can rain at any time. It stays warm regardless.
Where families stay
We always stay in Ojochal, so we have no first-hand experience of staying in Uvita and won't pretend otherwise. We know people in the area and will write this section properly once we can stand behind it.
Local tips
- Do your real grocery shop here rather than in Ojochal.
- If you need to work a full day outside the house, the bakery and Sibu both work.
- Pilates Uvita takes drop-ins.
